Cold-Feed Rubber Extruder – Complete Overview


What it does


A cold-feed rubber extruder (also marketed as a pin-barrel cold-feed extruder, vent-type cold-feed extruder, or cold-feed rubber block extruder) accepts rubber compound at ambient temperature. Inside the machine, a precision screw applies controlled shear and compression while multi-zone heaters and coolers hold the stock within a narrow temperature window. This single-step process plasticizes, degasses and shapes the rubber without the need for pre-heating on a warm-up mill. Compared with traditional hot-feed lines, it cuts energy consumption by 20–35 %, keeps stock temperature low, and virtually eliminates early scorch.

Engineered for high plasticizing efficiency at low temperature, the LN-E series offers nine models that cover every production scale—from 60 kg/h laboratory lines to 3 000 kg/h ultra-wide sheet lines. All machines share the following core advantages:


1. High-compression-ratio screw (patented wave-type + BM barrier) for complete plasticizing below 110 °C  

2. Optional pin-type shearing zone with 8–12 rows of radial pins for +15–25 % dispersion improvement in high carbon-black recipes  

3. 4–6 zone PID ceramic heaters and closed-loop water cooling (±2 °C accuracy) for 15-minute heat-up  

4. ABB or Siemens inverter and hardened-gear reducer (≥96 % efficiency, ≤78 dB(A))  

5. Hydraulic slide screen changer (<3 min) and self-cleaning mixing head  

6. Modular die head—swap sheet, tube or profile dies in minutes
